Sometimes I think I am fighting a losing battle in my quest to want people to feel better, feel better about themselves, eat healthier and live a longer life. I am just completely blown away by the 700 pound woman who can’t leave her home who supports herself through donations from the internet just for being obese.
And the feeding is easy! So many parties, so many events and all of which involve massive quantities of food. I was at Costco the other day – even I can’t resist twelve rolls of toilet paper – and couldn’t believe what I was seeing. My eyes, My eyes – ok: contest time – who said that line and from what tv show. (Hint: (s)he is about to have a new show launch this summer). You know the rules – first person to answer wins something from my on line store.
Yes, I am very excited to see Transformers 3 when it opens this summer but what fascinated me the most was the back story of how Megan Fox wasn’t hired because of how Stephen Spielberg felt about some of her comments during the press tour for the first movie. I think that people need to lighten up a bit and not take things so seriously and potentially out of context – now I am no expert on this nor do I have anything to say about the casting of Hollywood blockbusters –at least not yet
Buy local, buy fresh has been the buzz for the past few years..
There are many good economic reasons to support this movement.
You are supporting local farmers, the local economy, and you are reducing your carbon print. However, the main reason to buy local, is the food on your plate.
OK you have been doing this for awhile….
You started exercising, you feel good, you are losing size, and people say you look great, but the scale is not budging. So what are you doing wrong?
- Probably nothing. In fact, most likely you are doing everything right.
If you are on the Hamptons “A” Diet, off refined products, eating healthy proteins
vegetables and fats, your body has gotten efficient at burning fat. Add in exercise, and your body begins build lean muscle mass, which helps burn more fat.
100 calories snack packs…. dissected
Do good things come in small packages?
For companies making 100 cal snack pack, the answer is definitely yes!
I know spring is the time for renewal and renovation but since it is technically still spring for a few more days, I am going to take advantage of that. It just seems that all of a sudden, there is a lot of renovating taking place in my life. It’s been so busy that I didn’t even have a chance to write last week and boy do I have a lot to tell you.
Absurd is the first word that comes to mind. I mean seriously, we live in a culture that goes to extremes and is the land of excess and gluttony. No wonder we all have weight issues; and that doesn’t just apply to those who are overweight. I have mentioned, only half jokingly in this blog, my body dysmorphic disorder; but millions of us whether we are overweight or stick figure thin or something in between those extremes have a poor relationship to food.
This wasn’t the original title of the blog when I started thinking about it this morning – most of my blog ideas start in one of three places:
1. The shower
2. While I am training
3. When I am waking up and not yet out of bed
But as anyone who is familiar with the movie or book knows, it is about making the most horrendous choice one would ever have to make – choosing which one of your two children must be sent to a death camp.
But I can tell you he probably could never have envisioned what happens in farming today. I am not yet sure how I am going to incorporate my love of television into this week's blog entry but I’ll give it my best shot. After all, the only show that I watch that even remotely has a farm is the Fabulous Beekman Boys and their farm stands (no pun intended) for everything a good farm should embody – local, sustainable, etc.
