Being Human - Take 2

And we get there and no one speaks English - solamente espanol! Speaking of Espanol, after seeing Jennifer Lopez this week on Idol, is there any botox left in Lost Angeles? That city certainly gets more than its fair share of the country's supply, but c'mon J'Lo, it's time to get real girlfriend.

Being Human

Although this is one of my favorite television series (the US version) to come along in a while, (I know, I say that about all of them) I would like to share an e-mail a friend of mine in Tokyo sent me the other day.

Big Love

Just when I thought Bones had jumped the shark by jumping on the polygamy bandwagon in last week's episode, the show redeemed itself by getting back to its roots: the love between Brennan and Booth. Brennan and Booth are in love with each other and because neither would ever admit it, Booth, in a tragic plot twist found love elsewhere just as Brennan was admitting her love for Booth to herself.

There is No Escaping Toilet Paper

I know, this may seem like a really silly title for a blog, but please bear with me and read on. I was sitting at dinner when those words came across my phone as a text. I literally LOL'ed. The line spoken by this woman named Kesha on a show called, My Strange Addiction on TLC. She was addressing the fact that alcoholics could stay away from bars but how do you escape her addiction- eating toilet paper? Has she ever been to India?

Burn, Baby, Burn

I wish I could be writing this about the amount of calories or the amount of fat that you are probably burning each day by sticking to your new diet and exercise resolution; but, sadly, I can't. The reason is: it's burn-out time. We are less than one month into the new year, yet you can see and hear signs of it everywhere. People are somewhat depressed, the weather is gray and snowy (for most of us anyway), people are losing their motivation and it's not even February.

Tis' the Season

Oh, wait that was last month. Well in fact, there is another season- actually two seasons that begin in January that are of interest to me. The first is red carpet season: This is when the People's Choice awards, Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild, Sundance, and last but not least, The Academy Awards take place. I am sure there are many more that I can't remember or just don't care about but this is a good start.

A New Year, A New Beginning

Each new year seems to bring a sense of renewal or at least a sense of optimism that the new year is an opportunity to establish new habits, make new friends and somehow change our lives. I mean if Jersey Shore can bring in Deena to mix up the pot in season 3, then so can we.

Silver and Gold, Red and Green with Envy

I always wondered how the Christmas colors came to be - I am sure there is a History Channel or some obscure cable network airing that information right now. I used to think the green color symbolized the mighty evergreen- but I now know it is envy.

You're a Mean One.... Mr. Grinch

I couldn't think of a character who more exemplifies the topic I would like to discuss this week - Greed! It's the holidays and we all get a little greedy, don't we? I don't know about you but when I am out holiday shopping for others, a thing or ten usually finds its way home just for me- I blame it on the fact that I am a Libra and we just like nice things.

Pride before Santa Falling Down the Chimney

You may think it's a stretch to equate pride with healthy eating and nutrition but pride can really undermine someone's best intentions. I mean look at what Kanye was wearing during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade- if that wasn't a fashion disaster of epic proportions stemming from pride, I don't know what was.
