Fight back against “zombie cells”

We all want to live longer. But no one wants to just add years to the calendar.

We want those years to be vibrant, fun, and full of energy—not burdened by disease, decline, or dependence.

That’s why I’m dedicated to bringing you commonsense strategies for improving not only your lifespan, but also your healthspan.

But first, allow me to introduce you to a hidden culprit that may be cutting your healthspan short: “zombie cells.”

They may be one of the biggest threats to your health that you’ve never heard of…

When your cells refuse to die—but stop doing their job

The technical term for these cells is senescent cells. They’re damaged cells that no longer divide or function properly.

Your body normally clears them out after detecting them—but aging and immune dysfunction can stall the process.

As a result, these “zombie cells” accumulate in your body and can become pro-inflammatory, releasing chemicals that damage surrounding tissue.

(No wonder they’ve been linked to impaired tissue regeneration, chronic inflammation, fibrosis, neurodegeneration, and even cancer!)

In another words, they don’t just hang around doing nothing—they make aging worse.

That’s why researchers are now turning their attention to senolytics—therapies designed to eliminate or disable these damaging senescent cells.

Take matters into your own hands

Senolytics were first discovered in 2015. And while much of the research is based on animal models, the momentum is growing.

There are now more than 20 clinical trials either underway, completed, or planned. Scientists are testing senolytics for conditions like osteoarthritis, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and even COVID-19. And I’m eager to see the results.

However, you don’t have to wait for pharmaceutical senolytics to help clear out those damaging cells. See, there’s something quite simple you can do, starting TODAY…

Move your body.

Research shows that higher levels of physical activity are associated with lower biomarkers of cellular senescence in older adults.

In fact, simple daily movements—like walking, stretching, or even standing more often—can help your body naturally sweep out those “zombie cells.”

So, in your quest to boost your healthspan… just keep moving.

And remember, a little every day goes a long way. Focus on anything that breaks up sedentary time, like walking, swimming, or cycling.

P.S. I must note that not all senescent cells are bad. The key is balance—and making sure your body clears out the damaging cells before they wreak havoc.
