Forget to take your multivitamin? That might be all the more reason to remember next time… at least, if the results of one recent study are any indication.
Researchers looked at data from 41 elderly women, each of whom took either a multivitamin (featuring minerals, antioxidants, and plant extracts, too) or a placebo for 16 weeks. As it turns out, brain activity measurements revealed an increase in performance accuracy and neural efficiency among woman taking the multivitamin.
It’s probably worth noting that the multivitamin’s manufacturer, Swisse Vitamins Pty Ltd., sponsored this study. And the study’s authors can’t say for certain which ingredient in the supplement was responsible for this brain benefit, either.
Still, taking a daily multivitamin is just plain smart. And if it gives your brain a little boost in the process, well…so much the smarter.
