Maybe you CAN eat cheese

Q.“In a recent article you said that cheese is an indispensable part of the New Hamptons Health Miracle and you recommend it to all your patients. But what about folks who are lactose intolerant?”

Dr. Fred:

I’ve found that most people who think they are lactose intolerant really aren’t. They are usually sensitive to something else that they eat but associate that uncomfortable feeling with cheese.

And I’ve found that the primary culprits are usually sugar and simple carbohydrates.

When you eliminate sugar and simple carbohydrates from your diet, even the most stubborn cases of “lactose intolerance” usually clear up for good. Which means most people who were sure they were lactose intolerant WILL be able to eat cheese again.

Here’s what I recommend to my patients: Go ahead and eliminate cheese for a few weeks while you’re following the New Hamptons Health Miracle. Start taking a good probiotic (I recommend Dr. Ohhira’s probiotic formula). Then, after a few weeks, slowly start introducing cheese back into your diet. Start with less aged varieties first.

Chances are, you won’t have any of the uncomfortable symptoms you used to experience.

However, if they do start up again, then you may suffer from a true lactose intolerance. And in that case, you can certainly follow the New Hamptons Health Miracle without using cheese. There are plenty of other delicious foods to choose from, and cheese can easily be left out of most recipes.
