The 45-minute trick for shaving three decades off your brain’s age

Prevention, of course, is the best medicine. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t simple, drug-free ways to reverse disease as well. And this is true of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, chronic pain, cancer… and even dementia.

It’s true: Even if you feel you’ve started to “lose it” a bit, you can still walk your way back from the brink. And yes, I do mean that literally…

Big brain benefits in just six months

I know I talk about exercise a lot. But that’s because it delivers almost as many benefits as proper eating.

For example, researchers recently followed 160 older subjects with cognitive impairment (but not full-blown dementia), as part of a study called Exercise and Nutritional Interventions for Cognitive and Cardiovascular Health Enhancement (ENLIGHTEN). The average age of the participants was 65 years old.

As the name of the trial suggests, the goal was to assess the impact of diet and exercise on cognitive function and heart health. And wouldn’t you know? Results showed that regular aerobic exercise delivered a significant boost to subjects’ executive function — and in pretty short order, too.

Cognitive assessments were issued to participants, allowing researchers to predict the age of the subjects based on the results. At the onset, the researchers found that most of the subjects’ brains functioned similarly to those of 93 year-olds — nearly 30 years older than their actual ages.

But get this: After just six months of regular exercise, these subjects’ cognitive performance correlated to a predicted age that was a full eight years younger than their actual age.

Get smarter in less than an hour a day

Just ten minutes of warm up, and 35 uninterrupted minutes of walking or stationary biking. As the study shows, that’s all you have to do in order to obtain these extraordinary results. Not particularly strenuous… and certainly easy enough for pretty much any fitness level.

Here’s what this really means: If your memory is already in trouble, it’s not too late. You can still bounce back — better than ever, in fact — with some basic daily exercise.

Not that we needed a multi-million dollar study to arrive at this conclusion. I could have told you the same thing almost 30 years ago! And my advice hasn’t changed since…

Yet somehow, these study authors claim to be surprised by the results. Which, if you ask me, is precisely why American health and medicine is in the dismal state that it is. Because only a fool would think that diet and exercise don’t have a huge impact our cognitive health!

Heart disease and dementia have a long list of risk factors in common. So, what’s good for one is obviously going to be good for the other. (Shocking, I know!)

Exercise helps keep the body’s circulatory system free-flowing and healthy. And these blood vessels feed your brain, too.

The bottom line here is that more than three out of ten adults over 65 are dealing with varying degrees of cognitive decline. And that number would be a whole lot smaller if we all just went out for a simple walk every day.

Of course, getting up and moving is just one step in protecting yourself against dementia. In my Drug-Free Protocol for Reversing Alzheimer’s and Dementia, I outline my entire easy-to-follow, all-natural plan to protect and restore memory, strengthen focus, and build a bigger, brighter brain.
