Three exciting new health breakthroughs you need to know about

As you may already know, I’m the proud president of an organization called The International and American Association of Clinical Nutritionists (IAACN). It’s an amazing group of doctors, chiropractors, pharmacists, and clinical nutritionists dedicated to the belief that nutrition can heal you. This group is a far cry from the ordinary “dieticians” of years past.

Every year we put on a symposium where some of the greatest minds from the world of complementary medicine come together to share ideas. This year’s conference was held in Minneapolis. And I have to tell you, this city (which also goes by the nickname “the Mini Apple”) is an amazing example of how all cities should be. In fact, Minneapolis is ranked the No. 1 healthiest city in America. And if you’ve ever been there, you can easily understand why.

Mother Nature definitely had a hand in shaping the landscape of this town. There are chains of beautiful lakes as far as the eye can see. The water is clean and the air is fresh.

But you have to give credit to the city planners too–for making sure the residents can fully enjoy all the natural beauty. There are many green spaces, which aren’t just easy on the eyes, but also make you want to get outside and explore. There are parks, walking trails, and biking paths everywhere.

Minneapolis also has incredible access to fresh produce and the highest number of farmers’ markets per capita. And after spending some time exploring this city, I agree it’s an incredible model of health.

So, needless to say I was in a good frame of mind to attend my meetings. And they didn’t disappoint. The caliber of speakers at the IAACN symposium is always first class and this year was no exception. I learned so much I don’t even know where to begin… so I’ll give you the three top items that really excited me.

The first thing on the list is one of my favorite subjects–probiotics.

There’s new research showing that a specific strain of probiotic, called lactobacillus fermentum ME-3, actually does double duty in your gut.

First, it’s an excellent antimicrobial that can effectively kill off pathogens and other harmful bacteria that enter the gut. And second, it helps boost your body’s production of glutathione. Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant known for its role in supporting liver detox, cardiovascular health, and the immune system. And until now the only effective way to supplement with glutathione was intravenously. Unfortunately, glutathione can’t be properly absorbed when you take it orally. (So, don’t waste your money on glutathione capsules.) But researchers recently discovered that ME-3 actually synthesizes glutathione naturally in your gut. Very exciting stuff and I am sure to tell you more about this in future letters.

The second exciting discovery I learned about at the IAACN symposium is a new supplement called oxaloacetate.

Oxaloacetate does a few amazing things. First, it helps rid your body of glutamate. This is crucial because glutamate is a neurotoxin that plays a role in the growth of malignant brain tumors called gliomas. There is also some amazing new research on oxaloacetate’s benefits for memory and brain disorders such as Alzheimer’s.

And to make oxaloacetateeven more intriguing, research also shows it can mimic the longevity-boosting effects ofcalorie restriction without actually reducing calorie intake.

The third thing I discovered at the IAACN symposium comes back to another subject that’s very important to me: colon health.

There’s a new stool test for a genetic marker called M2PK that can tell you whether or not you have colon cancer. In fact, the M2PK test can detect malignant lesions much earlier and more consistently than a colonoscopy. And because it can detect abnormalities so early, it’s possible to eliminate any signs of cancerous growths within three months. So instead of waiting for a polyp to appear, you can now treat cancer on the cellular level. The M2PK test is so specific and so effective, it’s actually now the recommended standard screening tool for colon cancer in Europe.

Pretty cool stuff right?

I’m sure I’ll have more news for you on all of these exciting discoveries in the weeks to come. So stay tuned to the Reality Health Check and my monthly newsletter for important updates. And if you’re not already a subscriber to Logical Health Alternatives, now is the perfect time to get started.
