Why natural medicine is the best choice—now more than ever

How did we ever let the Affordable Care Act pass? It is a sheer disaster in my opinion, and if you’ve ever tried to use the system, you know what I’m talking about.

And after what I just experienced, I am seriously thinking about giving up my health care insurance altogether and simply having catastrophic insurance should I ever need to go into the hospital.

Here’s why I am so furious.

A few weeks ago it was time for my “50,000 mile check up.” And, as I explained in the June issue of my Logical Health Alternatives newsletter, while I don’t necessarily recommend annual physicals—at least the way they’re handled by mainstream medicine—there are plenty of things I do believe in keeping close tabs on. So on a regular basis, I go ahead and see a dermatologist for a skin check, have blood work done, and every three years I get a colonoscopy. (As I’ve mentioned before, my father and two uncles died of colon cancer, so I am in a high-risk category and make sure to get it done every three years.)

Makes sense, right?

Apparently not to my insurance company. Because when I got my “explanation of benefits” in the mail (honestly it was the thickest envelope I’ve ever seen), in reality it was an “explanation of denials.”

Not a stitch was covered.

It was pages and pages long, detailing why they weren’t going to pay a dime for anything. It was really a slap in the face, because I was actually doing them a favor by taking the necessary steps to make sure serious—and far more expensive—problems don’t crop up in the future.

I pay more for traditional health care now than I ever have in my entire life—and I get little to nothing for it in return.

And I quickly realized that if this is happening to me, then it must be happening to everyone else out there who is health conscious. When people are penalized for making preventative health care a priority, something has to change. This is just plain CRAZY!

People complain about paying out of pocket for visits to holistic practitioners all the time. And they balk at buying natural supplements, saying they’re “too expensive” because they’re not covered by insurance. But the way healthcare is shifting in the US, more and more mainstream treatments aren’t covered either. So you are still paying for being pro-active, one way or another.

It’s time to take a closer look at what you’re getting for your money.

What’s a better investment—a five minute generic visit with a doctor who may miss important details, and orders generalized screenings that require an endless loop of follow-up testing, along with dangerous pharmaceutical drugs that can leave you worse off than when you started?

Or…

Personalized check-ups with a doctor trained in natural therapies, (someone who looks at you as a person, not a number), who recommends targeted tests that give you a COMPLETE picture of your health and safe, natural therapies that don’t send you on a downward spiral of side effects.

The best thing about natural medicine is that YOU are in charge of your health…and you can work one-on-one with your doctor to determine the best course of action to take.

We can no longer afford to have blinders on. We have to fight for a better health care system where natural and preventative therapies are encouraged. Ones that are affordable to the average person.

Because at the end of the day, mainstream medicine is still a slave to Big Pharma and the insurance industry…and you’ll always be a number to them, not an individual.
