Pycnogenol capable of boosting your heart health, managing blood sugar levels, improving skin tone

More good news on Pycnogenol

If you’ve been reading the Reality Health Check or my monthly Logical Health Alternatives newsletter for a while, then you’re well aware that Pycnogenol is a blockbuster antioxidant–capable of boosting your heart health, maintaining healthy blood sugar levels and improving skin tone. It’s a tremendous roster of benefits, but this latest finding is particularly impressive…

A group of Italian researchers have discovered that Pycnogenol can significantly improve mental performance, alertness, and mood.  Their finding builds on previous research demonstrating that Pycnogenol improves memory in senior citizens.

What exactly is Pycnogenol? It’s pronounced pic-noj-en-all, and it is an antioxidant plant extract from the bark of the French maritime pine tree.

The recent study, published in the journal Panminerva Medica, involved college students (but the findings may certainly apply to older adults). The eight-week study was conducted at Pescara University in Italy, and involved 53 university students, ages 18 to 27.  Half the group was given 100 mg of Pycnogenol daily; the other half got a placebo.

The students’ mental performance was evaluated using cognitive function tests. Students’ final exam scores were also evaluated. Verbal IQ tests ensured that all the students had similar intelligence levels.

At the study’s end, those who took Pycnogenol had better mental performance, including improved sustained attention, memory and mood.  They also had higher test scores on their exams, compared to the control group.  Plus, their alertness and contentment improved significantly.

As I mentioned in the November issue of my monthly print newsletter, Logical Health Alternatives, one of the primary benefits of Pycnogenol is its ability to support healthy blood flow in the small blood vessels and capillaries–like the ones in the brain. And researchers think this was likely the primary contributing factor to the students’ mental boost.

If you’re not already taking Pycnogenol, this is one more reason to start today! I recommend 50 to 100 milligrams per day for general health.

You’ll get a full 100 mg in my newest NuLogic Nutritionals formulation – CircuLogic. Along with a handful of other ingredients shown to help microcirculation throughout the body.
