Q. Are jams & jelly ok to eat?
Jellies and jams are packed with sugar – as they are filled with fruit juice and even fruit syrup (which is the concentrated fruit). There are 10 grams of carbohydrates, which includes 8 grams of sugar, in just 1 tablespoon of Smucker’s Simply Fruit Strawberry. That’s the equivalent of about 2 teaspoons of granulated sugar. And it’s compared to 8 grams of sugar in an entire cup of strawberries. So I would stay away from the jams and jellies and stick with a few whole berries on occasion for a sweet treat or dessert.
